I was really looking forward to tonight and having dinner with L. and some other friends and L. cancelled at the last minute again. I'm still glad to see my other friends but I'm really worried about L.'s health, they sounded perfectly OK when I talked to them on the phone last night and they cancel again late this morning because they're not feeling well again.

When I add people, my dealbreakers are: Homophobia, racism, sexism, judgmental people, really rude and stupid people. People who can't agree to disagree.

Before adding me, you should know: That I've had MS for over 25 years now. That makes my life incredibility hard at times but we all have our cross to bear. the beginning and end overlap, and that's the middle

long time no post, but who cares. i'm alive and kicking and that's what matters. yesterday i saw that letterboxd posted a recommendation list of lesser-known summer horror movies and it included rituals! i was so proud and excited (even though i did nothing to make that happen lol) that i just had to watch it again. didn't get to do my yearly re-watch in april because i was in the middle of a big move and job change, all for the better so far, and i'm going camping this weekend so what better choice for a last-night-in-civilization movie than one about a camping trip gone horribly wrong??

it's not as texture-rich a movie as some others i've rewatched, sure, but i still feel as though there's something new for me to chew on every time. it's like a piece of gum that never loses its flavor, with all the pros and cons that implies (microplastics, etc).

this time i came away really wanting to watch picnic at hanging rock (i know, way overdue!) because the sag in energy once jesse is introduced was practically palpable and it reminded me of how the screenwriter hadn't wanted to take that direction originally, but also because that movie sounds like it's more about the relationships and dynamics between a group of younger women than any horror just like how the focus of rituals feels more locked in on the relationships and dynamics between these middle-aged men than the gritty details of their suffering.

Not much going on here other than me screwing up my leg having to lean on the damn dishwasher to get it to work.

Well that was exciting

Up front: I’m fine, everything is ok. I went to the ER last night. I had sudden excruciating abdominal pain that caused muscle spasms that made it feel like my ribs were going to snap. Nothing showed up on a CT and X-ray, so they gave me a bunch of meds for acid and other stomach issues.

Because of all this, I learned that morphine doesn’t really do anything for me, and I am big mad about that. Especially because last night was the first time I described my pain level as a 10. Even with my ridiculously high pain tolerance, I was writhing in pain and wanted to be knocked out.

I’M FINE. We have no idea what caused this, but I’m fine.

Had a great time with my friends last night. Went swimming earlier this afternoon, the latch to the gate on the pool was stuck and one of the Idiot Squad lied to me and said the main bldg key would unlock it. Well, it didn't even fit in the damn keyhole. Luckily it wasn't actually locked, it was only stuck so I was finally able to force it open and had a great swim. It felt rusty.

guns in the pokemon world

today I learned that episode 35 of the anime was never dubbed in english because a guy pulls a gun on Ash. how did I learn this? I wanted to know if they ever canonically showed guns in the pokémon universe.

why did I want to know this? my brain suddenly conjured the idea of drawing Corbeau and gunplay, and I wanted to know if my porn would be canon compliant. I'd still draw it even if it wasn't, but something something curiosity and cats.

this does make me wonder about how firearms would have (ha) evolved differently in such a world. like design, material, etc. would they be more advanced because the universe in general is more technologically advanced in some ways than ours, or would it be less so because why develop guns when you can train animals with superpowers? yes, this is also important to the porn. older model vs newer? French manufactured because Kalos? I'm not a gun expert or enthusiast so this is all for aesthetics lol but overthinking these details is part of what makes art fun for me.

the four pillars of kink

@silveralethia.puppygirls.online‬ on bsky:
i stg every kink can be subtextually boiled down to:
-i am powerful/in control
-i am seen as desirable
-i am safe and can now be vulnerable
-i can explore taboo in a safe + controlled environment

once you realize that you realize that no kink can hurt you

note to future!me rereading this: write those exploration notes about your characters' kinks you've been meaning to.

Well, today I saw a groundhog

And then tonight as I took out the trash I saw where it's evidently been burrowing, a big hole directly under the retaining wall to our yard.

Now what?

I think I just saw a groundhog

Crossing the street right in front of my house!

I didn't see his shadow, so I have no idea if the current [insert whatever] will be long or short.

Betrayed

To despise your government
To distrust your government
To be unable to respect your government
To know the leader of your country has contempt
for the people of your country
To be angered
not because it’s “Not in my name”

I did manage to get through two more episodes of Voyager with E this weekend!

First we've got Bride of Chaotica!, in which Kate Mulgrew enthusiastically chews the scenery. Mmm! Part of a balanced breakfast!

Also, she's pretty judgey about Tom's extracurriculars. E remarked that her daily coinflip must've landed on "Mom", and I can't say she's wrong.

It's a fun breather episode so long as you forget the fact that dozens of photonic aliens died before anybody on Voyager even realized they were at war. Whoops! Also, they spend almost the entire episode mere inches away from a shipwide epidemic of some sort of gross gastrointestinal illness, but nobody seems to care about that either, it's all played for laughs.

Then this episode I completely forgot where Tuvok and Tom are crash-landed on a time displaced planet for several months or a year with a woman who is deeply crushing on Tuvok. Tom, for whatever weird reason of his own, is adamant that the correct course of action is for Tuvok to get in touch with his emotions and just go to bang city with this woman. E and I agreed that the actually correct and logical course of action was for Tuvok to give Tom that punch in the face that he is just begging for, but for some reason Tuvok refrained. Seriously, I have no idea what bug flew up Tom's butt this episode, but he was so fucking obnoxious for no reason at all. Maybe, Tom, you should get in touch with your emotions before you start lecturing the Vulcan about his. I genuinely have no idea what his deal was or was supposed to be.

On a very different note, I don't know if anybody can make it to London who cares, but Camlann is doing a live prequel episode in September. If you know a bit more about Arthuriana than I do you probably would like the audiodrama a lot. Or even if you only know as much as I do or a little less. The music is amazing.
