As some of you may have noticed from my shrieking on social media yesterday, My Chemical Romance announced tour dates for 2026. The closest they're coming to me is San Diego or L.A., and yes, discussions are being had about which show I should try to purchase tickets for. EXCEPT that I'll have to purchase those tickets later, because they go on sale on Friday, right when I'll be in the office for an all-day meeting.

The Stroppy One pointed out that more tickets always become available closer to the concert dates, and while I know he's right, that doesn't sooth the wailing fangirl part of my brain. Stupid work calibration meetings.

Yesterday I discovered the clothing company Market of Stars, and specifically this duster. I flailed a lot about in on Bluesky and Tumblr, because my god that is pretty and I already thought of two different outfits I could use it with. To my complete shock, someone who's followed me for years and years sent me the money for it, saying they wanted to spread some kindness. I am shocked but grateful.

IG has started showing me a lot of witchy content. Not just the aesthetic IG witches, but people who's approaches are similar to mine. I don't know why the algorithm started doing that, but I prefer it to the hordes of "alt" makeup tutorials done by baby faced, dripping with collagen youngsters. (I found all of them adorable, but found myself muttering "Okay, now show me how to do that with permanent eye bags" a lot.)

As many of you know, my company hosts the all-hands Company Kick-Off event at the beginning of every year in Phoenix AZ, and there's always a costume theme for the first day. The 2026 theme is ... teams. Any way someone wants to interpret that, but of course all the examples were sports-related. But! I came up with a brilliant idea and presented it to my team: we all carry notepads and oversized pencils, and ta-da! We're the writing team. My peeps liked it, so that's what we're doing.

Sep. 22nd, 2025 12:28 pmgreghousesgfThe hot water is not working in my apt, I'm guessing it's like that all over the bldg and I tried to call the front desk about it this morning but they apparently left early for lunch soo I'll have to call them back later. I wonder if the earthquake screwed up the hot water heater. (There was a 4.3 earthquake at about 2 in the morning in Berkeley, I live in Oakland so that's definitely close enough to feel it. My glasses fell off the bedside table but they didn't break.)

Sep. 21st, 2025 12:26 pmgreghousesgfLast night I had a very long phone conversation with L. Now I know why I hadn't been hearing from them recently. Two very crappy things happened. They were dating somebody but broke up because this person (not somebody I knew) started treating them really badly and as if that wasn't bad enough, the person they're an in home caregiver for, who has a spinal condition so she can't really take care of herself, had this condition get a LOT worse to the point where she had to go to the hospital. Right now nobody knows for sure if she's going to have to stay in the hospital or some other care facility indefinitely so L. may need another job and place to live and may have to move really far away.
Oh, on top of that somebody dumped garbage in front of my apt door!

Evolving Art
Sep. 21st, 2025 11:20 ammusekickerBeen feeling slightly like I'm back in a art rut again. Meaning I think I'm ready to grow some more art wise.
I am taking some steps, finally doing some work on a making a character sculpture out of parts of old toys and other materials. (i think it can be called scratch building or something like that.)
Nothing makes you feel more like a villain then cutting off the ears of one of those cute sylvanian families blind bag rabbits ( I mean, they are the perfect candidate for one of my sci fi universe species called a Hoplix, which is basically rabbit with different colors, and ears that look like those dna strand models. What we do for art.)
I did also make a armature for the new avaloner whose face is part of this dolphin toy's face.
That said, I've been feeling lately like I want to expand to bigger or more collaborating projects. To grow.
